How To Pick the Perfect Mask for You!
1. Determine Generic or Custom Lenses
This guide will help you pick out what the correct mask is for you! First decide if you need custom or generic lenses. Custom lenses start at $289.95 and take 2-3 weeks to make. Generic lenses start at $74.95 and will ship out in 1 business day.
If you have an astigmatism (CYL on your eye prescription) that is higher than +2.0 or lower than -2.0, you may need custom lenses to correct for any blurriness that generic lenses cannot correct. Generics do not correct for astigmatism but if the CYL is small enough, you can still get generic lenses, and they will work. If you need any prism correction, you have to get custom lenses. Custom masks can be found here.
2. Face Measurements
Use a straightedge ruler to measure the width of your eyes. If you have a tape measure, keep it straight as possible across your face. Width: Outer eye to other outer eye, where the eye slits end.
If you measure under 4", consider these small masks.
If you measure 4" to 4.5", consider these standard/medium masks.
If you measure above 4.5", consider these large masks.
3. Add Bifocals?
Once you have chosen the right lenses (generic or customs) and a mask with your right width size, you can consider making your mask into a bifocal lens if you are scuba diving or plan on using a gopro/taking pictures underwater. Progressives not available.
If you are buying a generic rx mask, order the mask in your distance lenses, add to cart, then you can add these bifocal stick-ons to your cart as well. Change the quantity to 2 if you want them on both sides and let us know in your cart notes if you want us to stick them on for you or not.
If you are buying a custom mask, make sure that you select the "Add Bifocal" option underneath the color selection.
The only way to get distance correction and reader correction in the same lens is to get custom lenses.
4. Add Extras!
The mask is most important and once that's done, it's time to have fun! You can add any extras that will aide your underwater adventure like fins, a snorkel, and anti-fog to keep your lenses clear underwater. You can check out all of our accessories here!
